The Finnish Arabian Horse Society selected the stallion Shah El Temareef as their winner of the 2006 WAHO Trophy for Finland. This award is very well deserved. A beautiful stallion, he has competed in endurance riding with very good results in national and international competitions up to CEI** level. In show halter classes, Shah El Temareef was also successful, taking the title of Reserve Finnish National Champion Stallion with gold medal points 87,50 in the Finnish National Arabian Horse Show of 2006. He was also placed third in the ECAHO C Show 2001 in Nurmijärvi, Finland. In between these show ring achievements, Shah El Temareef was busy with his endurance career, and in the 2004 season he completed more approved endurance competition kilometres than any other purebred Arabian horse in Finland.

LIANA EL BARAKA. 1998, Grey Mare. (Pegase EF / Zora Arabia). Breeder: S.A.R.L. Najia Arabians. Owners: Pascale & Christian Manoha, Haras de la Majorie. Rider: Stephanie Arnal. Strain: Jelfet El Dehoua (Wadha 1874)
The Association Nationale Francaise du Cheval Arabe decided that the 2006 WAHO Trophy for France would be again be awarded on the occasion of the World Young Horse Endurance Riding Championship, an event with which WAHO is proud to be associated. For 2006, the FEI has awarded this important event the status of “World Breeding Championships for Young Horses”. This major event for horses of 7 and 8 years old has very strict veterinary controls, it was held at Compiègne in August as part of the World Endurance Festival. The championship took place over a 120 km course, with 100 horses entered from 16 nations, of which 84 started and 48 finished. The winner of the 2006 WAHO Trophy for France, Liana El Baraka, came second in the Championships at an average speed of 18.85 kph. She was selected as the WAHO Trophy winner because she took the coveted Best Condition Award with the best recovery times at the veterinary gates.
This beautiful 8 year old grey mare has an interesting pedigree which blends old French and Algerian lines with Russian and Marbach lines plus a touch of Polish blood. She has achieved high honours in the halter arena, including twice Junior Female Champion at C shows and also Junior Female Reserve French National Champion. She is an excellent ambassador for the Arabian breed, now competing with distinction in the growing sport of endurance riding which enjoys great popularity in France.
Endurance riding at this levels offers the ultimate challenge in equestrian sports, but it is the sport at which the Arabian horse most excels. The Association Nationale Francaise du Cheval Arabe was especially proud to be able to reinforce the success of the Arabian, and particularly of a French-bred Arabian with a successful previous show career, in winning such a prestigious event against competitors from all over the world and against horses of other breeds. Dr. Hans-J. Nagel, WAHO President, attended the event and presented the WAHO Trophy to Liana El Baraka and her rider, Stephanie Arnal.

MAYSOUN (Ansata Halim Shah / Maysouna). Grey stallion, 1985. Breeders & Owners: Karin & Gunter Maiworm, Maiworm Stud. Strain: Seglawi Jedran of Ibn Soudan (Roga 1882).
The Verband der Zuchter und Freunde des Arabischen Pferdes awarded their WAHO Trophy for the first time in 2006. The recipient was named as the 25-year old stallion, Maysoun, a distinguished sire with offspring spread throughout Europe and also to be found in the Middle East.
The reason Maysoun was chosen for this special award is that he is the only stallion in Germany who has produced 8 sons which have all been awarded a Gold Medal at the annual German Stallion Show. Among the “great 8” are Maydan-Madheen (out of Mesoudah-M); Authentic Ibn Nawaal (out of AK Nawaal) and Orashaan (out of Orasha). These three ‘Golden’ sons were exhibited to the enthusiastic audience in a special ceremony at the 2006 Nations Cup Show in Aachen, Germany, as proof of the prepotency of Maysoun as a sire of significance. The WAHO Trophy was presented to Mrs. Karin Maiworm by Dr. Hans-J. Nagel, President of WAHO.

The 2006 WAHO Trophy is awarded by Society of Hungarian Arabian Horse Breeders Breeding Committee in Hungary during application. 2006 winner: OSAILAN. 2003, Grey Stallion. (Al-Hassim / Amal Al Thania). Breeder: Dr. Mohammad Al-Nujaifi. Owner: Ahmed Al-Hijia. Strain: Saglawi Jedran (Shohob).
2007 winner: AL-HUSSAM. 2002, Chestnut stallion. (Al-Hassim / Lina Al Thania). Breeder: Ziad Mohammad Abdul Aziz. Owner: Talib Abdul Hussien. Strain: Ubaiyan Sharaki (Al-Na’ama).
The Iraqi Arabian Horse Organization has pleasure in announcing that they have awarded their 2006 and 2007 WAHO Trophies at the same time, seeing this as good encouragement to the Arabian horse owners of Iraq who are experiencing exceptionally difficult times. At present, it is not possible to hold any shows or endurance events in the country due to the security situation, however Arabian racing has continued in Iraq and these two stallions were the best race horses in Iraq for the seasons 2005/2006 and 2006/2007, respectively.
Al-Hussam and Osailan are paternal half-brothers. Their sire Al-Hassim was bred by the Royal Stables in the Sultanate of Oman from French and Russian lines, and both their dams were bred in Iraq, from very old and highly valued Iraqi desert-bred female lines – in Al-Hussam’s case through Al Na’ama and in Osailan’s case through Shohob and Lina - with both having the imported British stallion, Valiant Gold, further back in their pedigrees. They epitomise the modern Iraqi Arabian, athletic and attractive. Their proud owners have high hopes of these tough, sound and fast horses in their future careers as breeding stallions.

The Arabian Horse Society of Kazakhstan has awarded their 2006 WAHO Trophy to the young mare Venetsiya, born at Rahat Stud and considered the best filly in the country. Her dam, the lovely black mare Verhushka (Bahrein / Veda) was also born in Kazakhstan, at Rahat Stud, in the year 2000. She took part in racing as a 2 and 3 year old, and won the prestigious “Oaks” prize. At the special Horse Exhibition, she was recognized as a champion among the Arabians of Kazakhstan.
It is hoped that, apart from her beauty, Venetsiya will follow in the hoof-prints of her dam to fulfil all her athletic potential and, in time, to become a valuable addition to the Arabian broodmare band of Kazakhstan.
