In Finland Shalomon was approved for Finnish warm-blood, Finnish riding pony and Arabian breeding in 2004. | TISEBROUK. Bay gelding, 1997. [Djouras Tu / Fatma De Carrere]. Breeder: Mr. Francois-Xavier Maillot. Owner: Alain Gaudino. Strain: Seglawi Jedran (Brahmie 1891). |
| The Association Nationale Francaise du Cheval Arabe decided that the 2005 WAHO Trophy for France would be awarded to the first-placed French-bred Arabian in the ‘Banat Al Reeh’ World Young Horse Endurance Riding Championship. This major event, which has very strict veterinary controls, was held at Compiègne at the same time as the European Championships on 28th August. The championship, for horses 7 and 8 years old, took place over a 120 km course, with 96 horses competing from 20 nations. For 2006, the FEI has awarded this important event the status of “World Breeding Championships for Young Horses”. |
The winner in 2005 was Tisebrouk, an eight year old bay gelding, bred in France by Francois-Xavier Maillot and ridden by his owner, Alain Gaudino. Tisebrouk has been an excellent ambassador for the Arabian breed, taking part with distinction in the growing sport of endurance riding which enjoys great popularity in France. He was in fact bred with a racing career in mind, and did run and was placed as a three year old. After a year off as a four year old, he was sold at 5 to Alain Gaudino, an experienced French endurance rider. He gradually progressed through the endurance rankings, taking part in 90km rides for 6 year olds and, as a 7 year old, came 12th in the 120km section of the prestigious ride at Florac. Tisebrouk is the first foal of his dam, Fatma de Carrere, who sadly has now died after producing three further foals, which include Loubianka, 1999 filly by Kesberoy who raced in France before export to Morocco, and Medjerda, 2000 filly by Darike now sold to French and International Endurance rider, Elodie de Labourier.

Endurance riding at this levels offers the ultimate challenge in equestrian sports, but it is the sport at which the Arabian horse most excels. With Tisebrouk’s success, the Association Nationale Francaise du Cheval Arabe was especially proud to be able to reinforce the success of the Arabian and particularly of a French-bred Arabian, winning such a prestigious event against competitors from all over the world and against horses of other breeds. Dr. Hans-J. Nagel, WAHO President, attended the event and presented the WAHO Trophy to Tisebrouk.

| RAJWAT OMAR [Amal Ali / Ghalia Al Thania]. 2001, Chestnut Mare. Breeder and Owner: Omar Mohammad Abdul Aziz. Strain: Ubaiyah Sharakia (Ghaliah). |
| Due to circumstances, it is only now that the Iraqi Arabian Horse Organization is able to confirm the winner of their 2005 WAHO Trophy. They are therefore delighted to announce that their 2005 winner is the delightful chestnut mare, Rajwat Omar. This fine athlete was the best race mare in Iraq for generations. She achieved an amazing double, beating all the colts to win the Derby twice in succession, in 2004 as a 3 year old and again in 2005 as a 4 year-old. This has never been done before by a filly in the 90-year history of Arabian racing in Iraq. Her pedigree combines highly valued old Iraqi desert-bred dam lines from the mares Wadhat Al-Furat, Lina and Ghaliah, together with two crosses to the stallion Valiant Gold (General Gold/Dreaming Gold), bred by Mrs. P.A.M. Murray in Britain and imported to Iraq in 1983. It is hoped that Rajwat Omar will prove to be a significant addition to Iraq’s broodmare band in the future, passing on her beauty, courage and athleticism to her offspring. Her first foal, a 2006 colt by Sheridhan (FR) is very promising. |

An excellent and prepotent sire, he has won the prestigious Sire Produce award in Jordan at the National and Middle East Championships several times in the past. His progeny have also done well at the Jordanian shows, so The Royal Jordanian Stud Book Authority considered him to be an excellent representative of the Arabian horses bred in Jordan and a deserving winner of the 2005 WAHO Trophy. | GÜLILAH GÜLEH-GÜLEH. [Ashari / Gülilah Gülmek]. Bay mare, 1984. Breeder: Mrs. H. Aschenborn and Children. Owner: Mrs. H. Aschenborn and F. & G. Uijs. Strain: Seglawieh Al Abd (Wadduda 1899). |
| The Arab Horse Breeders Society of Namibia is proud to announce the winner of their WAHO Trophy for 2005. |
| The Gülilah Stud was founded by Mrs. Aschenborn and her daughter, Mrs. Uijs, in 1968 in Pretoria, South Africa, and moved to Orumbo North in Namibia in 1980. Vlinkfontein Galli Girl was the foundation mare of the stud, and is the grand-dam of Gülilah Güleh Güleh. Her dam, Gülilah Gülmek, died only recently at the ripe age of 31, having given the farm 16 foals. |
| The aim of the breeding programme was to produce beautiful Arabians which were both beloved family members and versatile all rounders. Gülilah Güleh Güleh, representing the third breeding generation of the stud, and still in the ownership of her breeders, is exactly that. A sweet-natured friend to the family’s children who played with her, rode her and showed her, she could switch on all the characteristics of a fiery drinker of the wind in the showring. As a broodmare she shows all the desirable qualities of a good mother. This charming mare had an excellent show career with innumerable show wins and championships. She is the dam of 12 foals of outstanding quality, some of which are successful endurance horses, others have been show winners, and many have entered the breeding programmes at several stud farms in Namibia. Gülilah Güleh Güleh has certainly done more than her fair share to contribute to the improvement of the Arabian horses of Namibia. |

|
| AMAL [Abdullah / Naomi]. Chestnut Stallion, 1980. Breeder: Mrs. H. De Ruiter- van Eyndthoven. Owner: Mr. Mokveld. Strain: Kehailan Rodan (Rodania 1869). |
| For the AVS the year 2005 was a year of celebrations: the AVS celebrated its 25 anniversary and it was also 70 years ago that an Arabian Horse Registration Office was founded in the Netherlands. On these occasions, it was even more special that WAHO gave us the possibility to adjudge this prestigious award in our celebration year. We asked our members to nominate horses for this special award, and we received many suggestions. |
| A committee of 3 persons finally decided which horse should be the first WAHO Trophy winner of the Netherlands. It was the famous chestnut stallion Amal, born 25 years ago in the stables of Mrs. H. De Ruiter-van Eyndthoven. He is by World Champion stallion Abdullah [Patron / Psikhea]. Both sire and dam were born in the Netherlands, although his dam Naomi [Darjeel / Zelda] was imported in utero from Britain and the sire and dam of Abdullah were from Russia. Just four years later, Amal was to follow in the hoof prints of his father: he became World Champion Stallion in 1984! As a breeding stallion, he was also in demand, being leased to the United States in the mid 1980s, and later to Great Britain. In Springfield USA he became Reserve Champion in 1987, in 1994 he was National Champion in GB and in 1995 the International Champion of Towerlands. His quality is clear, he really was an ambassador for the Dutch Arabian Horse breeding! |
| Then his offspring went on with this success formula: he is the sire of many good broodmares, who also became champions on the national level: Lestokada (x Lekbira ), Langani (x Lekbira); Lady Amal (x Lekowitsca ) and on an international level: Vicuna (x Safiry), and Elounda (x Chadiga) National Champion in GB in 1989. His son Rabhar became Reserve Champion at the World Championships in 1987 and another son, Armani became National Champion. In sports we can mention his offspring: Amach (x Emucha) on the racetrack in GB, and the very talented western and dressage horses: Karami (x Romea van Dennenoord) and Makkeda (x Marosha) who both nearly reached Prix St. George Level. Amal's grandson Ibn Armani achieved the distinction of European Champion in Western Riding. |
| Because of the quality and important place of Amal and his offspring in the Arabian horse history of the Netherlands, the commission decided to present the WAHO Trophy to this exceptional stallion’s proud and happy owner, Mr. Mokveld. We honoured them at our special celebration on the occasion of the Jubilee of the AVS, so it was a very festive evening! Amal was presented by his trainer, Mr. Chris van Schalkwijk and the WAHO Trophy was handed over by Mrs. Hannie Wehkamp, President of the AVS. |
